Whitehead is comfortable administering onsite and online professional development. For complex software, she believes in initial face-to-face training with coaching and mentoring as a follow-up.

During a 30-plus year career, she has taught in the secondary classroom as well as worked with all teachers and administrators in the library media center. She has also created  professional development opportunities on project-based learning, information literacy, standards-based education, reading techniques, collaborative learning, and assessment strategies.
